Thomas W. Jones joined the Mineola Choral Society in 2006 as our director. He has been the Assistant Conductor of the New York Choral Society and the New York Choral Society Chamber Singers, and continues as conductor of the Huntington Men’s Chorus. Tom is a graduate of Amherst College, and received his Masters Degree from Northwestern University where he studied choral conducting with Margaret Hillis and composition with M. William Karlins. Tom has also studied choral conducting in master classes with Helmuth Rilling at the Oregon Bach Festival and Fiora Contino at the Aspen Music Festival. His compositions have been performed in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. He is presently Director of Music for the Three Village Central School District in Setauket, New York.
We are very grateful to Tom for another enjoyable and successful season and we eagerly anticipate our 2010–2011 concert season with him.
Naomi Aomori has been the accompanist for the Mineola Choral Society since 2005. Having held a career in music education for over 25 years, Naomi has taught piano privately and given ear training lessons, in addition to teaching at the Yamaha School of Music. Some of her students have gone on to study at prestigious conservatories around the country.
She has also been an active performer as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player in halls throughout the New York area including Avery Fisher Hall, Lefrak Hall, and the Flushing Town Hall. As an accompanist, she has collaborated with instrumentalists, vocalists, choral groups, as well as ballet dancers, and holds a wide range of repertory accompanying various artists at many competitions. Naomi graduated the Senzoku-gakuen University in Japan majoring in Music Education, and completed her MA degree at Aaron Copland school of Music under the study of Ms. Morey Ritt.
As our accompanist, Naomi's talent is evident at every rehearsal and we are very fortunate to have her support us as we master choral works. |
